This is the house where we stayed while visiting Gubbio. My husband Chris and I had a wonderful time here for two weeks. Enzo and his wife Katerina built this house from an ancient delapidated barn. They used it as a weekend house for many years and now it is for rent to vacationers.
A few years ago when my decorative oil painting teachers Carol and Nelvin Empet retired I was determined to learn to paint original work on my own. Within a few months of their retirement I joined Palette Pals, a group of oil painters who meet for ten weeks in the fall and ten weeks in the spring on Monday nights. By this time I had begun painting from my extensive collection of photographs taken during my travels in Europe and the US. " Wild Cyclamen" is the first of those paintings, and "Vigna Renaro" is the second. During the summer of 2009 I attended drawing classes taught by artist and gifted teacher, Sue Hand at Sue Hand's Imagery, Dallas, PA. In November of 2009 I attended a one-week painting workshop with Robert Masla at his studio near Puerto Vallarta MX. I learned much from Bob during that week, but most of all Bob gave me confidence to carry on with what I was doing, on my own.
The purpose of this blog is simply for me to see my paintings in a different format from my studio. I all ready see areas needing improvement. But these paintings are completed and I will not be going back to correct anything in them. I have many more paintings to paint so I think that it is more productive for me to forge ahead, hopefully learning from my mistakes.
